Conservation Easement Information
What is a conservation Easement? A conservation easement is a voluntary, legally binding agreement between a landowner and a land trust or government agency that permanently limits specific development rights on a property to protect its natural, agricultural, or scenic value. The land remains in private ownership, but the restrictions "run with the land" for future owners. These easements provide tax benefits and prevent subdivision or industrial development.
